Apr,21,2008 Tokyo Steel to raise H-beam price by 11% |
Japan’s largest steelmaker of girders, Tokyo Steel Manufacturing Co., has increased its H-beam price by 11 percent to reflect skyrocketing costs of raw material and scrap metal.
Price will rise by about US$116/ton, according to the statement from company’s website. Scarp price in Japan has hiked to a record since last month on strong demand from China and South Korea. Also, domestic construction went down so the smaller supply of used metals.
Tokyo Steel has cut down the production since last year on slow housing construction, and it will reduce further as customers are reluctant to purchase at higher prices. |
