According to report from Baotou Iron and Steel Group (Baotou Steel), it is estimated that pig iron output will reach 9.65 million tons in 2008, and crude steel output is projected to hit 10 million tons.

The company’s sale income was some US$3.82 billion in 2007. The net profit was some US$250 million, increasing by 161.75 percent than the same time of last year.

Baotou Steel's pig iron output was 4.67 million tons in 2007, crude steel output was 5.85 million tons, and steel output was 6.87 million tons.
